The Beginning

What’s in a name?

Apparently a lot. In an increasingly consumeristic world a good name can make or break a sale. A good brand name needs to be short and memorable. Like Apple, Microsoft, and Twitter- sometimes less is more.

On June 18th, I sat down with my employers for over an hour of brainstorming. What could we do to stand out?

“Enigma”, “The Enigma Token”, “The Freakin’ U2F”, and “Token 16” were just a few of the names thrown out. Then I remembered that we had already decided to make all of our PCBs red…so why not just name the device RedKey? It was short, stood out, and if you look into it, even has a back ground in security.

Thus RedKey U2F was born.
