- What is a Breadboard?
A breadboard is a device that allows you to connect electronic components and create circuits without soldering. It is a plastic board with lots of tiny holes that allow easy insertion and removal of parts. Usually will come in three sizes: full, half, and mini.
- Terminology
- Leads- the long metal legs on electronic components.
- Pins- like leads, but shorter.
- Buses/Rails- the long strips on the sides of breadboards. They are used to supply power to the circuit.
- Jumper Wires- wires used to make connections on breadboards. Always try to use solid core, NOT stranded wires.
- How to Use (Build a Circuit)

NAME | Power | Ground |
MARKING | Plus Sign (+) | Minus Sign (-) |
WIRE COLOUR | Red | Blue or Black |
Tips:
- Use a breadboard diagram to help learn where to place components.
- Connect components first, and the power supply last.
- Common Mistakes
- Mixing up the Power and Ground.
- Not pushing leads in all the way.
- Putting components that have polarity in the wrong way.
- Getting row numbers wrong.
